Lidded containers have fascinated Cindy Drozda since she was a child hiding secret treasures. Today they are her most creatively stimulating body of work. Her pieces choreograph pure classic form with natural burlwood patterns. She completes the vessel with a delicate hand-turned Blackwood finial, creating a lidded Vessel with elegant presence and lively personality. A jewel hidden under the lid reminds her of the treasure that life reveals when we make the effort to look deeper within. Life as a self-employed woodturner is not without difficulty. On this journey she continues to experience her strengths and weaknesses; the greates struggle for her has been with self-confidence. A tremendous source of strenth and inspiration has been her life-partner David Nittmann, also represented here at the Mary Martin Gallery, who had supported and encouraged Cindy to grow as an artist and as a person.
