Searching for a meaningful existence within the most unexpected ruins is Jami Kunkle's passion. As an emerging artist from North Carolina she brings a unique style and beauty to structures forgotten and abandoned. The deterioration process in nature is vividly portrayed through her disciplined attention to details that transforms you into the space. Only the chosen scenes reach her canvas; one's that devour her imagination emerging with a forgotten message from the past. Through her art, Kunkle exposes our cultures thoughtlessness and challenges our humanity. She reveals our disposable addictions and captures neglect candidly.

Her efforts extend beyond the canvas as she explores the untraveled roads and is committed to the unique style that has been the driving force in her early career. Painting comes first in her life; it is the passion that exults her mind and spirit. She studied and graduated from East Carolina University and has exhibited her work in New York City as well as North Carolina. Her path has led her to Charleston, SC where she is interning and represented by Mary Martin Gallery. There she is devoted to developing her studio and learning from one of Charleston's best teachers.

Kunkle is a sensitive perfectionist and her work is testimony to that. She is fervent in her effort to explore a reality that will provoke reactions from others. She feels the need to incorporate her audience and challenges them to think. Her paintings are vibrant, moving and often uncomfortable. She strives for these emotions with every stroke.
