"Spirit integrated with eternity exposed as style by human effort." These are the words written by Barbara Westwood to honor her craft and her creativity.
Westwood has worked with the highest quality cut precious gems and stones throughout her career. She has developed an ingenious system which allows any jewelry collector to custom build his or her own jewelry. All Westwood chains, slides, jewel drops, and brooch pins are interchangeable, providing endless possiblilities.
Barbara's passion, for over 30 years, has been rare and one of a kind fine colored gemstone's. Her latest collection feature the truly world class gem creations from the world's finest gem cutters and carvers. These "Gifts" as she calls them are the result of this passion, philosophy and the desire to connect with others with her art.
People ask, "What is Art?", and they wonder why there are so many divergent opinions. Perhaps a better question is "What is an Artist?" Is it inspiration? Is it vision? Is it technique? Is it non-conformity? Or is it a way to communicate our inner most feelings without a word?
We are, if we choose to acknowledge it, all artists in our own private lives and hopefully we all find the right vehicle for that expression.

“Charleston has claimed the heart of Barbara Westwood and her husband, Sky Hall, along with thousands of other visitors. To celebrate all that is Charleston, Barbara has designed a series of exquisite gold and diamond jewel drops representing details of the famous wrought iron gates that adorn the beautiful fenced gardens in the antebellum homes in historic Charleston. These pieces are designed exclusively for the Mary Martin Gallery of Fine Art in Charleston. Barbara looks forward to designing specifically an owner’s very own gate piece to symbolize their own romance with their home in Charleston. Family gate designs can be made for every woman within a family who is privileged to own a home with a wonderful Charleston gate. The Gate Series jewel drops will be the envy of all who see them.We believe that all women who love Charleston will look forward to a Barbara Westwood Gate Series drop. Intricate wrought iron designs are one of the oldest art forms in Charleston and never fails to captivate locals and visitors alike. What could be better than this wearing a detail from a gorgeous gate in gold and diamonds?”
"My work is a vehicle to connect to the celebrations of life, to integrate with other human beings as an artist, with the symbols that define and mark our most important feelings."
